Seeing this on the front page disturbs me for some reason...
Even though I have a good friend who runs a doggy day care in Kansas City (Hi Amy!) I still question how it being difficult for owners to get their dogs into a day care program is really front page stuff... maybe it belongs on the front page of the Personal Journal, but on the front page of the main WSJ? It must have been a slow news day.
However, there were some other articles that actually were of interest. Particularly the article on the personal flight privileges some CEO's are given. Apparently, many of the Fortune 500 companies were properly accounting for the travel but not disclosing how executives were using the jets. New Sarbanes-Oxley legislation has caused some of these companies to update their filings with more information on personal usage of company jets. While the Economist is still ambivalent on the effect of the S-O legislation, I'm encouraged by companies actually beginning to disclose what perks executives are granted. I think that as more investors pay more attention to the perks given and correlate that information with the companies G & A expenses than they will begin to react appropriately to allow that security to fall (or rise) to its correct valuation.
